Overachievers that we are, gay and lesbian folks are always looking for an edge. So LGBT business types gathered Wednesday to learn more about hooking up with businesses that need their services.
The cocktailing and panel discussion came courtesy of the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, which hosted its quarterly WOW Wednesday program at the swanky Hotel Palomar in Midtown. Up for discussion was how businesses can better their score on the Corporate Equality Index, the publication from the Human Rights Campaign that ranks firms on their treatment of LGBT employees, consumers and investors. One of the ways companies can improve their scores is through the use of LGBT suppliers and vendors. So local gay business folks were on hand to pick up tips on tapping into that avenue.
They heard from Paul Skrbec of Delta, Paul LoGiudice of Newell Rubbermaid, Lillian Martinez of Seat of Our Pants Productions and Carolyn Cartwright of SunTrust. Delta, SunTrust and Newell Rubbermaid—all Fortune 500 companies headquartered in the region—notched a perfect 100 on HRC’s latest report card.
