imageTough economic times have taken their toll on gay-owned businesses in Atlanta. But others are celebrating milestone anniversaries with posh parties. Count Alan Avery Art among them.

The gay-owned gallery in Buckhead celebrated its 30th anniversary with style on Dec. 2, while also opening its latest exhibit – “The Glass Ceiling Shattered.” The exhibit, which runs through Feb. 10, highlights the work of Louise Nevelson, Helen Frankenthaler and Kara Walker.

During the event, DJ Lydia Prim – the resident music force at the Heretic, which just celebrated its 20th anniversary – provided the beats while Avery and partner Michael Newton (second photo left to right) worked the crowd of well-wishers.
