The recipe for success in hosting a charity drink bust is pretty simple: Lots of cocktails for a reasonable flat fee, good location and plenty of eye candy. The National Flag Football League of Atlanta took those ingredients on Saturday and nailed it.
The gay football league mixed up the standard beer bust – like that one they successfully hosted last August – and inserted margaritas. It worked for them in March, so they turned to the same format on Saturday. Lots of margaritas for a reasonable $15, the popular Zocalo in Midtown as the venue and plenty of jock-infused eye candy filling the parking lot.
The event raised funds for the league, which wraps up its season on Saturday with its championship games before turning its attention to the Chicago Pride Bowl in late June and Gay Bowl XI in October.
The league opened its season with a weekend of on-the-field clinics (view photos) in February and then a slate of exhibition games (view photos) before opening day on March 19. Games continued on April 2 (view photos) and into May (view photos). The league’s playoff push opened on May 21.
