As we sit in witness to new talent elbowing into every nook and cranny of Atlanta’s drag scene in recent years, gay Atlanta looks to a title bout on Thursday to declare the next Supreme.

Well, maybe the Miss Edgewood Avenue pageant isn’t quite as dramatic as all that, but the competing queens will do their best to make you feel the heat as the changing of the guard in local drag continues. Thursday’s contest at Noni’s is just the latest way that the new drag class dips cross-dressing into a vat of artsy and edgy to come out on top. The event benefits the LGBT homeless of Lost N Found Youth and the fundraising planners for multiple charities at Barefoot Gypsy.

Six of this compelling new crop come together on Thursday with their fellow gender bender and last year’s Miss Edgewood, Brigitte Bidet (top photo) as emcee. In addition to the “shut-it-down-ing that will be going on," Bidet tells Project Q Atlanta that donations to the cause are also votes.

"The winner will be determined by a combination of judges' scores and ballot counts," she adds. "The event has a $5 suggested donation and everyone who donates receives a ballot. For every $5 you donate, you get a ballot, so drop some cash and ensure your favorite queen gets crowned! Afterparty cruise-fest with DJ McTrill.”

Here are the contestant queens who promise to bring it in their quest for Bidet's crown.

Cayenne Rouge

Among this queen’s accolades, the singular face (center with Bidet, right) with the spicey name was preserved in needlepoint by “Serving Face” artist Aubrey Longley-Cook.

Ellasaurus Rex

She of the Glitz parties and Gurlfrandz shows at Mary’s also draws attention out of drag and out of his clothes, too.

Lavonia Elberton

This Miss Edgewood contestant won’t likely be confused with any other on Thursday at Noni's. Her past appearances in various states of beard-dress ensure it.

Kryean Kally

When she’s not topping the list of Atlanta gays to watch in 2014 or working a Bedlam party (photo), gay mag covers and other hot buzz are her specialty.

Prima Alexandra

A fierce Dragnificent competitor and show-circuit fave, Prima is guaranteed to werq it for applause.

Violet Chachki

Serving Other Show realness as well as sitings around town and in tons of guest spots, you better believe Chachki is always one to watch for the win – at the pageant on Thursday and in life.
