In a slate of literally hundreds of LGBT events for Black Gay Pride Atlanta over Labor Day weekend – from nightlife to officially sanctioned panels to fellowship – Sunday's Pure Heat Community Festival in Piedmont Park stood out.
Taking all the reverence and revelry of the annual Pride festivities outdoors has become a popular recent addition to the annual lineup. Throughout the day, hundreds of people flowed into the park to check out the vendor and organization marketplace, stage performances, food, awareness initiatives and even a hair show.
The event proved to be a draw for a Black Gay Pride crowd diverse in age, gender, creed and race as everyone came together to celebrate a unified front. And Brandy.
