Big queer weekends collide, rain down bears and bonnets on Atlanta

What do you get when you combine a late-season Easter with the annual Atlanta Bear Pride? We’re all about to find out in this week's Q magazine special edition.

There was a time when one party option ruled Easter Sunday if you were queer and in town that day. Welcome to a newer, more diverse reality.

Not only will Armorettes Easter Drag Races bring carnival games to its parking lot, but there are Easter events all weekend for other segments and burroughs of Atlanta's queer village. We run down the Top 10 Easter-themed parties Friday through Sunday.

What’s more, your chances of seeing an Easter bonnet on a burly bear go up this year. That’s because it’s also Atlanta Bear Pride Weekend. The Q Cover Guy welcomes all comers in a special-section rundown of the fifth annual slate of parties at Heretic, Woofs, Xion, Blake’s, BJs and Manifest4U.

We also offer the two biggest Q News blockbusters from our homesite Project Q Atlanta, where you'll find fresh local LGBTQ stories online every day.

And a busy week doesn’t stop at Easter and Bear Pride. The Queer Agenda calendar offers even more LGBTQ things to do, and you'll also find your reliable weekly standards in Q Voices opinion columns, Q Shots photos and The Q advice feature.
