Atlanta’s chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the gay male nun dragsters who spread cosmic joy and do good in the gayborhood, painted their efforts red Saturday at the Devil Wears Red fundraiser.
Of course, all the members of the local Order of the Flaming Sugarbaker Sisters wore red in their singularly unique style, but they added incentive for guests to follow suit: Reduced cover for anyone wearing a red dress. Even burly men’s men got in on the deal at Jungle.
Benefiting the group’s general Sister Grant Fund that goes toward its efforts for LGBT causes across the city, the Devil Wears Red included a 50/50 cash raffle, a best dressed contest that must have been nearly impossible to judge, and the beats of DJ Shawn.
Since their inception, the painted faces of the Atlanta Sisters have been seen out in force all over town, like the Pride AIDS Vigil, their Manifested Dinner and health fair, the co-hosted Intergalactic Love Affair, as well as when one of their own won the Dragnique competition and another passed away.
