You knew it was big, and you knew it was good. Now an international travel site names Atlanta Pride one of the nation’s best. The listing just confirms why Atlanta has such strong gay pride in our Pride.

Just as you were settling in for a long haul between now and Atlanta Pride (photo) come October, Travel Pulse reminds us why it’s worth the wait with The 5 Best Gay Pride Events in the Country. As out-of-towners start planning this year's travels, the site places our own annual celebration of all things LGBT right alongside standard-bearing gay metropolises Boston, New York, San Francisco and Chicago. In fact, the writer may even like us best.

The largest and best (OK, writer’s pick) Pride festival in the Southeast, Atlanta Pride takes place in October each year to coincide with national Coming Out Day. In the typical southern fashion of over indulgence, Atlanta Pride consists of three parades. In addition to the Pride Parade there are also the Trans March and Dyke March, too. Held in Piedmont Park each year, right in the heart of Midtown, you are a close walk to more than 100 gay-owned or friendly bars, restaurants, and hotels. The concerts draw huge headliners and the libations flow freely. The weather in Atlanta in October makes for a beautiful week to just come out and have fun.

All this when the Atlanta Pride Committee isn't serving breakfast or pissing off internet trolls. Yes, they're good at building our anticipation all year too. We can hardly wait. In the meantime, relive last year’s amazing parade and all of our Pride coverage.
