Alex Wan, who worked the media circuit late last month in announcing his bid for the Atlanta City Council, is now asking supporters for their help.
In an email sent Monday afternoon, Wan asks for “your vote, your contributions, and your time.” The gay businessman and longtime resident of the District 6 he wants to represent, launched a new component to his web site that allows visitors to donate online.
In his email Monday, Wan reiterates some of the same themes he discussed when he launched his campaign May 27.
The frustration of watching Atlanta’s decline, coupled with the vision of knowing what our City can be compels me to run for City Council. A lot must be done to get our great City back on track, and the citizens of District 6 and those in our Atlanta communities deserve strong, new leadership. I am not one to shy away from hard work, and I’m ready to bring the change I believe our City deserves.
This will be a challenging and demanding race. It will require sound campaign strategy and execution. It will require financial and human resources. And it will require capturing and mobilizing the incredible energy of our community.
I have had the privilege of your friendship and the pleasure of working alongside you over the years. I now need your support – your vote, your contributions, and your time – to successfully finish the race for which we laid the groundwork five years ago.
Wan faces Steve Brodie in the District 6 race. Brodie, a gay business consultant, lost to incumbent Anne Fauver in 2005. Fauver, the council’s only openly gay member, is not seeking a third term.
