imageAll of you gay sci-fi and gaming fans take note: Tomorrow is the last day to pre-register online for the upcoming OutatlantaCon convention.

The event, set for May 1-3, is offering a $35 registration fee through April 15. After that, you'll be stuck paying $5 more at the door during the convention.

The event includes a full slate of panels, gaming, film screenings and yes, a masquerade ball so you can dress up. There's even a planned session on erotic rope tying and a screening of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Suspect, gay murder victim ‘had relationship’

imageAuthorities investigating the homicide of a 20-year-old gay Snellville man are awaiting the results of toxicology tests and an autopsy before moving forward with additional charges.

The body of Lashon Lee Douglas was found March 18 in a trash container on Ga. 137 in Taylor County, which is south of Atlanta between Columbus and Macon. It's about 100 miles from his mother's home in Snellville, where he had recently moved.

Eric Riley (photo), a 35-year-old truck driver, faces three charges related to Douglas' death, but has not been charged with killing him.

HRC building up to May 2 gala dinner

imageIf organizers behind the 22nd Annual Atlanta Human Rights Campaign Gala Dinner & Silent Auction were hoping to build a little buzz about the event next month, they did so on Thursday.

That's when organizers held the last in a series of pre-event receptions. This one took place in the club room of 1010 Midtown, a 35-story condo building that is part of the massive 12th & Midtown development on Peachtree Street.

Truck driver charged in death of Ga. gay man

imageA 35-year-old Georgia man was arrested late last month in the death of a gay 20-year-old man from Snellville.

Truck driver Eric Riley, faces charges of concealing the death of Lashon Lee Douglas Jr. (photo) and tampering with evidence. Douglas' body was found March 18 in a trash container on Ga. 317 in Taylor County. Media reports about the case cited authorities who said the pair knew each but wouldn't disclose the nature of their relationship.

Harry Knox speaks out on White House post

imageTo say this week has been hectic for Harry Knox is, well, an understatement typical of the part-time Atlantan’s soft-spoken demeanor.

He spent the better part of two days this week inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House for briefings with more than 60 religious leaders and Obama administration officials.

On Monday, he was named to the advisory council to the White House Office of Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships. Knox took a few minutes Wednesday to discuss with Project Q Atlanta his new role.

Georgia stop leads to arrest in murder case

imageA traffic stop in a small southwest Georgia town last week led to an arrest in the slaying of a 19-year-old man, bringing to an end an investigation of a relationship that started in a gay chat room.

Lee Carl Banks III, also 19, is on his way back to Katy, Texas after an astute Grady County sheriff's deputy stopped Banks on March 30 as he was driving the damaged Mitsubishi Eclipse of Spenser Vogt (photo) in Cairo, Ga. Vogt was later found dead in Texas, shot twice in the head and his body wrapped in a tarp and dumped.
