It’s crunch time for the Atlanta Xplosion.

The full contact tackle football team opened its seventh season in the Independent Women’s Football League with a dominating 43-0 win over visiting Clarksville. A crowd of about 1,000 fans was on hand at James R. Hallford Stadium in DeKalb County for the game.

image“We have new players, but they are also athletes,” says Carla Odom, one of only a handful of veterans held over from the Xplosion’s 2006 championship squad. “They have a lot of self confidence.”

Next up for the Xplosion is a road trip to Houston on Saturday to play the Energy.
