Atlanta trans couple gives Ricki Lake a primer

The appeal of tuning into "The Ricki Lake Show" is the anticipation of getting to rubberneck through a 60-minute televised train wreck. But Monday's episode with an Atlanta transgender couple misfired. It was touching, endearing and totally unexpected. Bianca Nicole, a title winner who currently performs at LeBuzz, and (legally married) husband Nick Bowser appeared on the show with their 18-month-old son Kai. And in a matter of minutes they articulated with poise the ins and outs of their 3-year relationship, how they both changed genders in their teens and how to make it work when a female-to-male trans person gets pregnant not once but twice. It is must-watch TV for anyone curious about how a transgender couple navigates through a relationship. And they did it without throwing chairs, security guards or a screaming audience. Huh.
