imageLGBT folks supporting media watchdog group the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation gathered to celebrate the weekend on Oct. 22 at the organization’s first local 2010 Thank GLAAD It’s Friday event.

Thank GLAAD It’s Friday is an event series each year that takes place in cities around the country. Atlanta’s inaugural 2010 event featured prize drawings for CDs and DVDs as well as one-year GLAAD memberships.

imageElliott Elsner (top photo, right), GLAAD’s membership events coordinator, welcomed guests to the event at the W Atlanta Midtown Hotel with happy hour cocktails and after-work networking.

Most of all, it was an opportunity to get to know the mission of GLAAD, a national organization which keeps an eye on representations, commentary and coverage of LGBT people and issues in mainstream media.

The next Thank GLAAD It’s Friday Atlanta event takes place on Nov. 19 at the W Midtown.
