If you have a passion for fashion, now’s your chance to compete in a runway challenge with a twist that only gay Atlanta’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence can offer, and to help a good cause at the same time.
It won’t be easy. When Project Nunway hits the stage at Jungle on April 14, the designers must spend no more than $100 on materials. That means most of the raw materials will be recycled goods. And yes. The fashions still have to be creative, innovative and of course, fierce.
The deadline for designers to enter is March 15. {encode=”[email protected]” title=”E-mail Sister Gunza Blazin”} to throw your name in the ring, get all the Project Nunway rule and to see your ideas stomp the runway. The event benefits the Order of the Flaming Sugar Bakers’ own Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Fund, which bolsters charity efforts to help a wide array of LGBT causes and non-profits.
One more thing. The ensembles must also be fit for a queen, or a Sister to be exact. The models are the Sisters themselves (photo), those gay male nuns who manifest cosmic joy through freedom of expression, chartable acts, community outreach, and social activism.
That’s right. They’re not just known for their standout look, but for giving back. Most recently, they teamed with the local Radical Faeries to benefit the Feminist Women’s Health Center’s Trans Health Initiative at the Intergalactic Love Affair (view photos), turned red for their general charity fund at The Devil Wears Red (view photos), and aided the LGBT homeless youth project Saint Lost-N-Found at Mash Attacks! (view photos) with DJ Robin Skouteris.
And the giving doesn’t stop. On Saturday morning, a Sisters Charity Yard Sale benefits both Saint Lost-N-Found and the Sisters’ Fund. It’s one of our Best Gay Things to do in Atlanta This Weekend.
