Atlanta queers channel their spirit animal in this week’s Q

Add this share

Six months into our quest to bring more Atlanta queers into the spotlight of local LGBTQ media, we’ve met pansexual doulas, Dykes on Bikes, transgender socialists and socialites, radical and mainstream activists of color, lesbian DJs, gay male nuns, Latinx feminists, and more.

The even better news is, we’re just getting started.

But where would Atlanta’s queer woodlands of beautiful beasts be without the first faction of our diverse numbers to be associated with its own spirit animal? Welcome to Atlanta Bear Pride this weekend.

With special thanks to organizers Heretic and Bearracuda, plus Bear Pride’s other participating venues, our Cover Feature this week is your complete guide a packed slate of events. Our coverage comes with gorgeous photos of Q’s cover model – and the Bearracuda main event co-host – gay Atlanta’s own Tyler Forsyth. He serves you big, beefy bearcake in pics shot by Brian McCall of McCall Studio Photography.

As you know by now with Q, that’s not nearly all. We also have a supersized Queer Agenda calendar for a supersized weekend beyond Bear Pride. In Voices, Heather Maloney runs a comb through forms of gender expression, and in The Q, being a responsible queer means facing tough talks. Also on tap, 10 Queer Things dives into the benefits of being in a relationship, and Q Shots features smiling faces at multiple LGBTQ events.

It adds up to more to love in queer Atlanta, and another issue of Q dedicated to covering all of it. Keep picking us up around town, and visit us here on Project Q for fresh daily content. Write me any time at [email protected].

Q magazine is available at LGBTQ and queer-friendly outlets around town. Read the digital version below:
