When cruising in big box retail stores, there are a couple of things to keep in mind: No moaning, don’t pull a Larry Craig with store security officers, and check the news for reports of recent stings.
That’s where a handful of guys at the Buford Kmart — yes, the small ‘burb north of Atlanta that’s apparently a retail cruising hot spot — went wrong. At least six men have been busted in Big Blue in recent weeks, the latest coming last week.
Gwinnett County cops are at a loss to explain why the store in the 1600 block of Buford Highway has seen a surge in potty room copulation, but the men who’ve been arrested certainly haven’t helped themselves.
Two of the men were busted last month when a security officer at the store heard moaning in the men’s restroom, checked and discovered the men engaged in oral sex. One of the men allegedly had a travel-sized party pack that included gloves, condoms and lotion.
Last week, another man was busted when he pulled a Larry Craig on a security officer. That came after a rash of media reports about an undercover sting and arrests at the store. Maybe Craig should tape a PSA from inside one of the stalls. (Craig was a then-U.S. Senator busted for sex in an airport restroom in 2007.)
Police, seemingly irritated that they are consuming time making public indecency or disorderly conduct arrests, offered this charming quote to WSB: “It’s not too private, and furthermore, it’s not too clean.”
CBS Atlanta stormed the store after the most recent arrest to ask their “Tough Questions,” a Geraldo Rivera-esque attempt at gotcha reporting. The news crew confronted a store manager, who promptly kicked them out. But not before offering up this detail: The store has installed cameras outside the restroom.
