Like an addict, you feel ashamed you do it but keep coming back week after week for the next fix.
Thankfully, Bravo knows that. The unofficial network for gays — Logo would be the official one — announced that the embarrassing showcase of Southern-style drama is coming back for a second season. Yes, those divas and drag queens of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is returning for a second season. Network brass haven’t said when or who will make up the cast. But it’ll be back like a recurring case of crabs. Scratch all you want, but they won’t go away.
In related “Housewives” news, cast fav NeNe (who’s may daddy?) Leakes was booted from her Duluth resident. Oh, yes. None of the “Housewives” actually live in the city of Atlanta. Turns out, Leakes didn’t even own the home she lived in on the show. She and her husband left in November after their landlord filed en eviction notice for the 5,000-square-foot home.
Leakes, happy to have cameras follow her around for the show, seemed a little put out by attention to her living arrangements and declined to tell the Atlanta Journal-Constitution where the family lives now.
NeNe Leakes, in a series of e-mails Tuesday, would not say where she is now living. “It’s none of your business,” she wrote. But she noted that they “are financial able [sic] and stable to live where ever we feel fits.”
NeNe Leakes, 41, wrote that the eviction notice does not have her name on it, adding “and you don’t know my relationship with [husband] Greg so be careful what you report!” The Duluth home, she wrote in an e-mail late last week, “was a lease purchase corporate deal with Greg & his company. Things didn’t work out between the two of them so they did what they had to do and he did what he had to do.”
“If we rent, lease purchase or buy, money is still coming out of my pocket,” NeNe Leakes wrote on Tuesday. “So who’s [sic] business is that??”
Meanwhile, busty country-singer wannabe Kim Zolciak made her first trip to Blake’s recently. It had to be tough for patrons to tell her apart from the drag queens already inside.
And once taping begins, Kim says one Atlanta hotspot she hopes to take the crew to is Blake’s on the Park, where she partied two weeks ago.
“It was my first time ever actually seeing drag and all of that stuff, and I actually loved it,” Kim says. “That was the most fun I have had in a very, very long time. It was laid back, it was relaxing — I loved it, I mean I loved it.”
Kim is touched to have so many enthusiastic gay viewers as part of her fan base, and at the prospect of Kim Zolciak drag queens performing country numbers in gay bars across the country.
“That would be hilarious,” she says. “Rock on — I can share my hair!”
Even though she’s a late arrival to drag shows, Kim says some of her closest friends and family members are gay.
“I tend to get along better with them, believe it or not,” Kim says. “I just think they’re a trip.”
