Justice, Freedom, Desire. Add love, and the theme of gay Atlanta’s annual Bayard Rustin/Audre Lorde breakfast on Monday was beyond realized. Just ask the standing room only crowd.

For the 13th year, the big gay breakfast honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., featured hearty grub for all comers. It was good sustenance for the LGBT contingent headed to the MLK Day march. Hundreds of guests also enjoyed a program of international gay guests, local inspirational speakers and interdenominational clergy. Sponsors and food service were led by Atlanta Pride Committee and host venue All Saints Episcopal Church.

Organizers described the event's theme as having a broad reach:

This year’s Breakfast, according to co-founder Craig Washington “will provide a platform to address universal human needs such as housing and affirming spaces as well as freedom of desire itself which must be prioritized by the progressive LGBTQ social change movement.”  The theme Justice, Freedom, and Desire: A HomeComing  underscores the value of  reunion, safe location and freedom of expression among the beloved community as demonstrated by LGBTQ people of color.   “We each as individuals, groups and organizations have an important role in determining our future,” said co-founder Darlene Hudson.
