Atlanta Eagle to ban smoking inside bar

image They dipped their leather boots in the water last month and thanks to a positive response, Atlanta Eagle will ban indoor smoking beginning Monday. Cigar lovers will puff out smoke signals one last time on Friday. Just as the leather and levi bar's cigar club comes in Friday for one last smoke, the bar is snuffing out the smokes and asking daddies and their boys to save the habit for the bar's expansive decks. On March 11, the Eagle asked this simple question on its Facebook page: "Should the Eagle go smoke free?" Nearly 350 comments later, the answer was clear -- a resounding yes. So then co-owner Robby Kelley (photo) told us that the bar would take action as soon as May 1 to limit smoking. But they hadn't settled on the logistics. Would they mirror Heretic and Jungle by allowing smoking in limited indoor areas? Or follow the lead of My Sister's Room and Mary's by banning smoking on certain nights? “Smoke and cigars go with a leather bar but times are changing and so are we,” Kelley told is last month. “It’s still a hard thing to decide. You’re stepping across a line we said for a long time we would never take. The rights of people to smoke is a kinda iffy thing.” But then the bar pushed up its schedule and quietly announced with a note on the events calendar of its new website that a no smoking indoors policy begins April 29. Also Monday, Burkhart's starts a week-long test of a new indoor smoking ban. "We thank everyone for supporting it," Kelley says.
