It’s been a minute since Atlanta Royals nailed a cover song with their own vocals and upped the ante with a slick music video to go with it. Well breathe, bitches. They’re back and as good as ever.
When the troupe last checked in, local queens Evelyn Caldwell, Evah Destruction and Aria Cassadine were doing “Human” by Christina Perri. It was a fitting sequel to their debut cover of “Royals” by Lorde. Now with the so-hot “Bang Bang” as inspiration, director David Antionette brings back Caldwell and Destruction as a duo. Caldwell in particular belts out her part with impressive precision.
This time, it all goes down at Lips Cabaret and just as each of the Royals prepares to give up a crown at a one-night-only drag spectacular. The Triple Crowning of Atlanta Royalty pageant takes place Oct. 19 at Jungle. Antionette Marketing Group presents the event that last year named Cassadine as Miss Atlanta Showgirl, Caldwell as Miss Atlanta Grand Diva, and Destruction as Miss Atlanta Rising Diva.
Check out “Bang Bang” above, and note the two local gay gadabouts dancing backup. That’s Rick Twombley and Griff King. They’re not just smokin' hot they’re officially smokin’ hot. As in, Hollywood comes calling.
