The Atlanta Bucks took to Piedmont Park on Saturday for their winter tradition: The Bestest LGBT Sports Team hosted its basic skills session as a sign that its winter season is fast approaching.

Newcomers to the squad, and a handful of veterans looking to brush up on their skills, spent about two hours running through drills in the soggy park as part of Rugby 101. The squad opens its five-match season on Jan. 26.

But before the season opens, the Bucks host Rugger Convergence on Jan. 18-20. The weekend is an effort to bring together gay ruggers from across the Southeast for a no-match weekend of fun and socializing. The weekend includes a special edition of the Bucks First Friday at Heretic on Jan. 18.
