Atlanta Bucks train their rugby recruits

The gay ruggers of the Atlanta Bucks polished their skills and trained some rookie recruits on Saturday as the squad preps for its trip to Sydney for the gay world championships.

The Bucks scrummed their way through the spring season, wrapping up their home schedule in April with a rugby three way. After that, they pulled on their purple skirts and raised money.

On Saturday at Walker Park, the squad spent the morning practicing with the Charlotte Royals. The teams are combining to fill a roster at the Bingham Cup, which opens Aug. 24 in Sydney. The Bucks also hosted new recruits for its Rugby 101 skills session.

That night, the Bucks hit Heretic for a send off party with music by Robert Ansley.
