Atlanta Braves toast gay fans with LGBT event

Gay weekend jocks and Atlanta Braves fans joined with gay former Major League Baseball player Billy Bean on Wednesday for the team's LGBT night.

Out in the Stands, the fourth consecutive year the Braves hosted an LGBT night, included a pre-game reception with Bean, MLB's new Ambassador of Inclusion, cocktails and plenty of chatter about the team's recent slump. (The Braves beat the Nationals 3-1 on Wednesday to snap a recent losing skid.) Last year, Bean was joined at the event by ex rugby star Ben Cohen, the sexy cuddle bear whose anti-bullying foundation is based in Atlanta.

Sadly, some Braves fans react poorly when the franchise supports an LGBT event, such as last year's GLAAD Spirit Day. Really poorly. But that hasn't stopped the team from toasting its gay fans and boosting its efforts at being inclusive.

The event benefited Lost N Found Youth, a non-profit that cares for homeless LGBT youth in Atlanta.
