Break out the rainbow ball caps, baseball fans. The Atlanta Braves are ready to mark Stonewall Month with the team's eighth annual LGBT Night, set for on June 22 at SunTrust Park.
Demand continues to grow each year for the event, so this year the pregame party moves to the Coca-Cola Roxy, located steps away from the ballpark. DJ Kimber from Nonsense ATL is scheduled to warm up the crowd there, where you can pick up your souvenir Braves LGBT Pride hat.
Then folks head into the ballpark where they can watch the Braves take on the Baltimore Orioles from the Home Run Porch (aka the outfield seats), or go up to the Xfinity Rooftop Lounge in right field (site of last year’s pregame party) for cabanas, tailgating games and an indoor lounge. Post-game fireworks follow.
“Our gates are open to all for every game, but we are happy to have a bigger celebration for the LGBT community on this special night,” said Adam Zimmerman, Braves senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement to Project Q Atlanta. “This year’s event is bigger and better than ever and we look forward to an incredible night on June 22.”
The $39 ticket to the Atlanta Braves LGBT Nightincludes the pregame party, Braves LGBT Pride hat, Home Run Porch game ticket with accessto Xfinity Rooftop Lounge and a $3 donation to Lost N Found Youth.
The Braves are among 23 of the 30 teams in professional baseball to host an LGBT event this season.
Atlanta Pride hosts several other events during Stonewall Month, including a comedy show with Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro on June 20, as well as a concert by Blondie on June 22. Both events are at the Fox Theatre.
