Biz owner with ties to gay porn goes missing

The president of an Atlanta web hosting company that caters to gay porn sites and performers is apparently missing and friends haven't heard from him since late October.

Mark Wilson, who launched Great Atlantic Media in 1998, was reported missing in early November. Friends tell porn industry blog Dewayne In San Diego that they last saw Wilson at his Atlanta home on Oct. 27.

On or around October 28th 2013 Mark Wilson (according to neighbors) disappeared from home in Atlanta Georgia. According to my source in the adult community a friend of Marks  contacted Atlanta PD sometime the first week of November. They did a welfare check and spoke with neighbors who said he was last seen at home on Sunday October 27th.

Police obtained an order to force entry and no one was found in the home. Hospitals and accident logs were checked to no avail.

On Friday, Atlanta police said there is no missing persons case for Wilson. But it's possible that Wilson is not his legal name. Calls to two Great Atlanta Media phone numbers went unanswered.

Wilson hasn't publicly posted to his Facebook page since Sept. 23. The most recent post to Great Atlantic Media's Facebook page was Sept. 4. The company's last tweet, posted Oct. 24, promotes a new website it created for porn performer JD Phoenix.

Dewayne In San Diego alerted its readers to Wilson's apparent disappearance on Dec. 18.

Because of the uncertainty here, no definitive finding of a body or accident scene I have refrained from posting until today. I became aware of the situation on the first of December since Mark was usually unavailable during the Thanksgiving break I was not overly concerned. I was also in a bit of shock as well, this is not the way you expect someone to go without a trace.

Wilson founded Great Atlantic Media in his Charlotte home, moving the company to Atlanta in 2006. Five years later, according to the company's website, it moved to a 20th floor office of One Atlantic Center on West Peachtree Street in Midtown. The company designs and maintains web sites and has a client base that includes performers such as Brent Corrigan, Pierre Fitch, Mick Hicks and Marc Dylan, and gay sites such as Jet Set Men, Aussie Boy 63, Gay Porn Gossip, Chi Chi LaRue VIP and Guys In Briefs.

Dewayne In San Diego describes the company as a one-person operation.

That was always my main concern Great Atlantic Media was a one man operation (with admitted out sourcing and occasional interns) but this is not unusual in Gay Porn many studios are one man operations Chasomen is one highly successful example. I remember once two years ago bringing up the issue of “Mark what happens if you are hospitalized? Have a heart attack etc?

Mark laughed it off like most of us MEN do but he did add in the case of death or hospitalization he did have a shut down plan and procedure for the orderly transfer of domains and hosted sites to other company’s.

Since personal relationship and superior service were always the hallmark of Mark Wilson and Great Atlantic Media I was not overly concerned and was reassured.

Wilson gained notoriety in 2010 when he outed popular porn star Mason Wyler as HIV-positive, a move that drew scorn from some industry observers.
