Atlanta Bear Pride set to go hard and long all weekend

That low, growing growl you hear is a nation of gay bears headed for Atlanta Bear Pride this weekend. By the time they arrive, eight parties with 10 special guests at three venues over three days is waiting.

“Throwing parties is what we do, and we’re constantly raising the bar, working hard to give the community what they want,” Bear Pride co-founder and Heretic GM Alan Collins told Q.

“This year’s talent lineup is probably the best we’ve had so far,” he added.

For 2022, that means DJs like Tony Moran, GSP, Isaac Escalante, Phil Romano, Shane Marcus and Seth Breezy. It also means adult sensations Hunter Harden at Bearracuda on Saturday and Alex Tikas at Bear Invasion on Friday.

Beyond Bears

The event that started as an idea seven years ago between Collins and party guru Matt Bearracuda only grew in popularity since then. The men who Atlanta Bear Pride celebrates return each year with more friends.

That community is inclusive of gay men beyond typical “bears,” Collins said. There’s no gatekeeping on body type.

“You’ll find bears of every shape, every size all under one roof having a great time,” Collins said. “Not a bear, but love the bears? You don’t have to be a bear to join the fun.”

The inclusive atmosphere and non-judgmental vibe is what sets bears apart, he continued.

“Everyone is welcome, and that’s what so great about the bear community,” Collins said. “So check your attitude at the door and come have a great time.”
