The Atlanta Pride Committee announced Wednesday that singer Ari Gold will headline the festival’s chock-full stage roster in Piedmont Park, part of a promise Pride made to address a Yom Kippur overlap. The sexy gay singer (photo, read our interview) has been a big draw for years and made national headlines this year when he and his boyfriend fought an order to the back of a bus for hand holding. That he is also among the Jewish acts in the Oct. 8-9 lineup may directly address the Yom Kippur flap that erupted over the festival’s calendar conflict with the Jewish holiday. Pride worked with gay Jewish leaders to adjust its schedule to allow more people who observe the holiday to participate in more annual Pride events. They also committed to booking even more Jewish musicians and comedians during the week and after Yom Kippur is over. Gold appears on Oct. 9. Other well-known artists on the Pride schedule include Alexis Jordan, Wynter Gordon, Kim Sozzi, local rocker Michelle Malone, dance diva Deborah Cox (read our interview), and “The Voice” finalist Beverly McClellan. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to bring some of our community’s most talented artists as well as some other recognizable names to the Pride stage this year,” Pride Executive Director JP Sheffield says in a prepared statement. “People often ask how we choose our entertainment.
