With squirt guns, beer pong, music and a few shirtless hotties, the Wet Demons softball team did what they do best off the field: throw a fundraiser that’s both packed and a good time.
The team, which plays in the C Division of the Hotlanta Softball League, handles their business on the field, too: Their 12-4 record has them in third place, not far behind the Avengers and Mudcats.
Back to the fun stuff. The Wet Demons stripped down — at least some of them, anyway — for their June 12 beer bust at Joe’s on Juniper. The event helped raise funds to offset team expenses, including what they hope will be a trip to Columbus, Ohio for the Gay Softball World Series in August.
To help the cause, $10 bought a bottomless cup of beer, a fun atmosphere and the tunes of DJ Travis Roache. Even Mary Norwood, the gay-friendly former mayoral candidate, was on hand to gather signatures for her indie bid for chair of the Fulton County Commission.
When it comes to beer busts, the Wet Demons practice to make perfect. The team held a season kick off event in March that also drew a big crowd to Joe’s.
