Combine the talents of beat masters Vicki Powell and Kyle Keyser, and you’re likely to come up with an alternaqueer Halloween event that turns a creepy old high school auditorium into a big costumed dance fest.
Powell – known for her signature Boombox and Sunday parties – and Kyle Keyser — the quixotic mayoral candidate also known for his DJ talents in East Atlanta haunts – shifted their annual Halloween gathering to the Arts Exchange on Saturday. That’s the former school not far from I-20 and East Atlanta that is turning into something of an alternaqueer playground.
“Fame: A Halloween Party” dusted off the best of 70s and 80s dance music and turned out the fun for a costumed crowd that ranged from blood-spattered corpses to now-dead Middle East tyrants and nearly everything in between.
