Alterna-queers swarm MJQ and get ‘Trashed’

Atlanta's late-night spot hidden so well that few day walkers would ever even notice is making a comeback. Hip after-dark revelers, party monsters and club kids hit MJQ with a gay-inclusive vengeance on Saturday to kick off the monthly Trashed party.

Fourth Saturdays are hopping again at the underground bar located beneath the Friends gay bar across from Kroger on Ponce de Leon in Midtown. The Trashed event tries to recreat some of the magic of famed venues like Limelight and Studio 54. True to form, the hipsters came with their gays, lesbians and other queer-adjacent party people in tow.

Hundreds danced to a beat provided by multiple DJs and dressed as guided by the event invite: “Bring out the glitz and outrageous for a night of unity through dancefloor mayhem. Costumes encouraged. Anything goes.”

And hold on. Oscar and Golden Globe-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and hunky actor Liam Hemsworth popped in, too. Allegedly.
