Alex Wan rallies supporters with block party

With just a handful of days left until Election Day, Alex Wan wanted to rally his supporters. What better way to do it than join the popular Sunday afternoon cocktail hour at Zocalo in Midtown.

So he did and the three-hour event on Sunday proved the adage, “If you pour, they will come.” With $5 Alex-a-ritas and a handful of giveaways, the bar and parking lot were full of Wan supporters dressed in blue campaign t-shirts.

imageThe event matched the usual cocktail party atmosphere the gays find on Sundays at Zocalo, though this week offered a party with a purpose.

Wan is one of three gay men and six overall candidates seeking the District 6 post on the Atlanta City Council. He entered the last weeks of the campaign with a distinct fundraising advantage, though the one local LGBT group to issue an endorsement in the contest, Atlanta Stonewall Democrats, backed Steve Brodie.
