AIDS riders toast way toward big gay vaccine ride

Another beautiful Saturday shone on gay Atlanta just in time to raise the roof and some money on a margarita bust and benefit. The bike riders of the AV200 and their supporters took full advantage on the patio at Zocalo.

The AIDS Vaccine 200 bike ride through North Georgia pedals off in May, but AID Atlanta’s Pedal Pushers team is already rolling on its fundraising. Bottomless frozen libations and raffles helped raise money, while DJ Mike Pope helped raise spirits.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard from AV200 riders on their road to the 2014 event. We’ve already watched them mask up for Mardi Gras and eat up at a kickoff brunch. And the strategy works. Last year’s ride tallied a whopping $300,000 for AIDS research and service organizations.
