Atlanta mayor kicks off Black Gay Pride at City Hall

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms hosted the city’s inaugural Black Gay Pride reception on Wednesday in Downtown Atlanta.

Hundreds of revelers packed into City Hall for the event.

Bottoms presented $1,000 checks to three LGBTQ organizations — LaGender, Vision Community Foundation and In the Life Atlanta.

LGBTQ Atlanta City Councilmember Antonio Brown was also one of the featured speakers. Brown praised Bottoms for her efforts for LGBTQ equality.

"I have to add, just from looking out, this is the first time I've seen City Hall the blackest and gayest it has ever been," he said.
