The gay-led teams and riders of the annual AIDS Vaccine 200 bike trek are already gearing up with training rides through Atlanta and beyond. Hoping to exceed their record-setting 2012 fundraising, they’re already beer busting too.

Braving the cold and rain on Sunday, several riders made it to Frogs for bottomless beer and DJ beats. Sadly, it was too blustery for bike shorts, but the event was preceded by a ride. Some diehards worked up a thirst on a trip through Buckhead while working to be in top condition for this year’s main event journey from Emory University campus to Camp Rock Eagle in the Oconee National Forest.

The 2013 AIDS Vaccine Ride is scheduled for May 18-19. As always, the primary beneficiary is Emory Vaccine Center, and other support agencies and organizations will also put feet to pedals for bucks.
