5 tips to look fabulous this holiday season

Halloween is over, Atlanta Pride is long gone and Joining Hearts is but a distant memory. But the holidays are close and that means big gay parties on the social calendar, so rough and ready just won’t do.

We talked with the experts at Look Young Atlanta, a gay-owned medical spa that recently celebrated its grand opening at its renovated facilities in Midtown (second photo). What advice did they offer? The holiday season is a perfect time to parade those good looks – even if you’re not in a skimpy swimsuit sipping cocktails poolside.

So here are five tips to get you through the holiday season and those cocktail parties you know are coming with the same gay fabulousness you worked all summer.

imageGet that Glow. The holiday season and sleep mix as well as too many Vodka tonics and dinner with the in-laws. We get it. These last few weeks of the year often mean fretting over gift ideas and an extra push at the office to meet deadlines. That can leave you overworked and drained.

How to recharge your body, mind and spirit? Get pricked — with acupuncture, of course. It’s a time-tested way to relieve stress and relax your muscles. Treatments last about an hour, so no need to fret about fitting it into your schedule. Acupuncture is no substitute for a long night’s rest, but face it. That won’t happen until after New Year’s. Acupuncture can give you the relaxed natural glow that rest provides and that you need right now.

Treat your Forgotten Parts. No, not those parts. The other ones — your neck, chest and hands. These areas can be a sure giveaway that you’ve spent too many summers poolside scoping out the scenery. Sure, parading around in that fashionable square cut while cocktailing your way through the pool parties was fun, but that sun exposure can leave these part withered and old before their time. How to get that skin up and moving again? Laser therapy. Lasers work on your skin to permanently remove wrinkles, lines and imperfections like sun spots so you’ll be the freshest thing poolside next season.

Wear V-Necks. V-necks give the eyes a visual stimulation and say, “Hey, look up here and notice my pecs.” It opens up directly to the head so people can eat up your great smile and pearly whites. The idea is they won’t notice that spare tire you’ve acquired from eating all those gingersnaps and too much pumpkin pie. Or, you could just try the new HCG diet and get rid of the fat. HCG injections free up energy stored as abnormal fat and allow you to stay on a low-calorie diet without feeling hungry or sluggish. You won’t even feel tempted to reach for another helping of that holiday meal.

Wear Your Skivvies. Surprise your partner – or that cute elf you snagged for the holidays – with a carefully hand-wrapped present – you!. All that’s needed is a well-placed bow or a devilish outfit that will light a fire right where you need one. A healthy sex life will help relieve any added stress from the office of the holidays.

But here’s the rub. Who wants to unwrap a present only to get to untamed hair? Jungle thatch does not say happy holidays. How do you fix that? It’s easy. Laser hair removal. Nobody wants a prickly cactus waving around in their face.

Lengthen Your Lancers. Your eyes can penetrate deep into the soul. And batting luxurious lashes from across the room, forget it! You’ll have those boys trapped in your grasps with no escape. If you haven’t been blessed with thick, long lashes don’t worry. Here’s how to work those lashes like any good drag queen: Latisse is a new FDA approved product that’s proven to lengthen and re-grow lashes. It’s as simple as applying eyeliner – admit it, you know you’ve done that before. Just a few drops a day and you’re on your way to seeing results.
