17 mischievous Faerie moments conjure Midsummer Night

Add this share

Atlanta Radical Faeries are set for their annual summer solstice free for all, this year dubbed A Midsummer NightMARE. But for Faerie virgins venturing to the event for the first time, here’s a how-to do on wardrobe, and in some cases lack thereof, to fit right in.

There’s no dress code. Come on, now. Anything other than “anything goes” would be so un-Faerie like.

When the beat goes on at the Arts Exchange on Saturday, be prepared for everything from playshops to heart circles, from a talent show to a dance party with DJs Vicki Powell and King Atlas, and more. View Saturday’s full noon – 3 a.m. schedule and psyche up to run amok.

In the meantime, going shirtless and losing your razor are just the beginning of the Faerie experience. Check out some of our favorite photos of Midsummers past – with a few other Atlanta Radical Faerie pics thrown in – for tips and inspiration. You can view the full galleries from past Midsummer Nights here and here. It's just one of Saturday's best things to do in Atlanta's gayest month.

Shirtless? Hot. Shirtless with body paint and a Speedo? Please.

Furry chests? Abso-fuckin-lutely.

Glitter equals good. Flower pedals too? Now we're talking.

Garland works, or genie drag. Either. Or both.

Release your inner savage.

Corset? Check. Rainbow feathers? Check. Tongue in ear? Priceless.

Whatever you do, commit. That's what's up.

Wings? Definitely.

Chainmail? Give it a spin.

Wraps and skirts? Totally.

Inflatable wig. Haul it out and blow it up.

You too, ladies. And don’t forget your trapeze.

If all else fails, set that shit on fire.
