imageOur Hope Metropolitan Community Church in Athens is bracing for a big weekend as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. And what better way to do it than host a series of events with Rev. Troy Perry, (photo) who founded the mostly-gay Metropolitan Community Churches in 1968.

Perry is scheduled for three events this weekend:

Aug. 22, 10 a.m.: Justice Breakfast where Perry will discuss his lawsuit against California to gain recognition of his marriage and Prop 8.

Aug. 22, 6 p.m.: Screening of “Call Me Troy,” a documentary about Perry and the formation of the Metropolitan Community Church. Followed by a reception and book signing.

Aug. 23, 11 a.m.: Perry will preach during the Our Hope MCC worship service.
