About Magazine honored the best of gay Houston on Monday, celebrating the winners of its fourth annual FACE Awards during a red carpet ceremony at South Beach.

The event attracted a cast of Houston politicos, LGBT activists and drag performers, including state Sen. John Whitmire, mayoral candidate Sylvester Turner, Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan, police Chief Charles McClelland and several LGBT officers, and Harris County Democratic Party Chair Lane Lewis.

Performers included Morena Roas, Ektor, Michael Chiavone, Shawn Anthony and Nina Lombardo, who was named Entertainer of the Year.

The Houston City Council proclaimed it FACE Awards Day to honor the event, which stands for First Achievers in Community Excellence. McClelland presented the Call 2 Courage award to five officers for their work on LGBT issues.

Chad Pitt, a gay radio personality from Mix 96.5, and Wendy Taylor, a Houston singer who competed on Season 11 of "American Idol," hosted a red carpet arrival ceremony. Lauren Kelly of Mix 96.5 and Sarah Pepper of Hot 97.5 hosted the awards show.

  • Entertainer of the Year: Nina Lambardo
  • Event of the Year: LGBT Pride Celebration
  • Volunteer of the Year: Elizabeth Moton, Pride Houston
  • Drag Queen of the Year: Violet S'Arbleu
  • Drag King of the Year: Ian Syder Blake
  • New Drag Break Out Performer of the Year: Chloe Knox
  • Bartender of the Year: Tyler Moyer, JR's
  • Outreach Service Provider of the Year: O.P.T. Youth (Out Proud Together)
  • LGBT Bar of the Year: F Bar
  • Representation of the LGBT Community: Eric Hulsey, Houston Gaymers
  • Advocate for Change: Brad Janacek, Keep Montrose Safe
  • Sports Team/League of the Year: Montrose Softball League
  • DJ of the Year: Eddie E, South Beach
  • Non-Profit of the Year: Bayou City Performing Arts
