The best queer things to do in Atlanta this weekend

The holigays are over, but LGBT events the first weekend of the New Year don’t skip a beat. There are too many theme parties, variety shows and playoff games to slow your roll.

Friday, Jan. 5

DILF (top photo). The Longjohns & Viagra Edition brings Seattle’s DJ Bret Law @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Queer Drunk History. Local LGBTQ comics and improv artists Queeriety enlist the Wussy queers and a slew of drag queens to tell our stories in the most fun way possible @ 7 Stages, 9:30 p.m. 

Flannel Friday. Show this weather how male archetypes dress @ Woofs, 8 p.m.

Boys Room. Hang with the cool kids in East Atlanta @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

DJ Ron Pullman’s Birthday Bash gets the weekend going @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Kudzu. DJ Vicki Powell rocks a set along with Grey People, Twins and D2T in this inclusive all-nighter @ 825 Warner, 11 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Fresh Face Friday puts the newest drag glamazons on display. Then get your singles ready for premiere queens in Femme Fatale @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, Jan. 6

Fantasy Girls (middle photo). The queens you loved at the weekly Jungle show have a new home @ Ten, 9:30 p.m.

Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus Auditions. Love to sing? Just in time for spring and summer concerts, sign up and sing your heart out for the entrance committee @ St. Mark UMC, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

#Daydrunk: Furry Disco Balls. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party as the sun drops @ Mary’s, 2:30 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly schedule shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Drag Queen Story Time: Winter Wonderland. Terracotta Sugarbaker reads to the kids @ Ponce Library, 3 p.m.

Country All Night. It’s Becca’s birthday, so the boot scooters take over with line dance lessons early, then two-steppin and line dancing til close @ Heretic, 8 p.m.

Falcons vs. Rams. The local guys go head to head with Los Angeles with NFL action on the big screens of Atlanta’s gay sports bar @ Woofs, 8 p.m.

DJ Eric kicks Saturday into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Heyday. The 80s dance party for the queer-inclusive crowd @ The Basement, 10 p.m.

Saturday Pop! Popup drag and Popup men werqs Saturday night into a frenzy @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Sizzling Startlets and Fever. The opening show is followed by the quintessential drag cast working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. 

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

 

Sunday, Jan. 7

Sporty Sunday Funday (bottom photo). All the games and matches on the screens and all the guys to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Heifer Review. Ruby Redd leads the stampede of queens working the crowd @ Cowtippers, 1 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday Tea. The weekly tradition of dudes, DJs and drinks continues @ Ten. Low-Tea vocal tracks, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. High Tea today’s hits, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Armorettes. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens goes in hard @ Burkhart’s, 10:30 p.m.
