The best queer things to do in Atlanta on Halloween Weekend

Creaking screams and things that go bump in the night are real this weekend. LGBTQ Atlanta embraces Halloween for weekly events that go all out with costume parties and performances for fun and fundraising.

Friday, Oct. 27

Heretic Halloween (top photo). DJ Mike Pope gets the man-on-man dance party started with $1500 in costume contest cash and prizes @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Monster Bash Halloween Weekend. Come to the gay campground that draws men from Atlanta to Tennesee for outdoor fun, this time for an all-weekend costume party @ Timberfell Lodge, through Sunday.

Old Hollywood Horrors for LNF. Support Atlanta’s organization for homeless LGBTQ youth wearing your best interpretation of the event theme @ Lost N Found Thrift, 8 p.m.

Rocky Horror Show. Atlanta’s LGBT theatrical company opens its first full season with the camp classic @ Out Front Theatre, 8 p.m. The show runs through Oct. 29.

Morningside. The new play by local gay luminary Topher Payne trods the boards @ Georgia Ensemble Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Nov. 12

Costume Speed Dating. The Better Way To Meet group does what it do, this time in costume @ Kompass Rose Grille, 9 p.m.

The Other [Halloween] Show. Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9 p.m.

Halloweenie. The annual tradition continues with this costume contest and dance party @ Mary’s, 10 p.m.

The Mummy: Resurrection Night 1 gets the weekend going with DJ Ron Pullman @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Heroes Among Us Halloween starts with Fresh Face Friday and the newest drag glamazons on display. Then get your singles ready for premiere queens in Femme Fatale @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Halloween Glitz & Glam. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, Oct. 28

DJ Cindel Halloween Party. Oh it’s on, and it’s about to go down. Costumes encouraged, party attitude required @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Fantasy Girls: Final Nightmare, 9 p.m.

Southern Softpaw League has fall ball in full swing @ Nickajack Park, 10 a.m. Through Nov. 4.

Ruck-A-Buck Tournament. The local gay rugby squad Atlanta Bucks host this annual tournament @ Mercer University Field, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Hotlanta Squares Halloween. Do-si-do and promenade left with Atlanta’s LGBTQ square dancers in costumes @ City of Light, 6 p.m.

StrangeBrew #Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party as the sun drops @ Mary’s, 2:30 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the bar’s Skary-oke, 9 p.m.

Shalloween with RPDR’s Milk. The Wussy crew welcome the former “Rupaul’s Drag Race” contestant to lead the queens and queers in their annual fright night @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Murder Under the Bigtop. Costume craziness with a circus twist all night, including a contest you don’t want to miss @ Ten, 10 p.m.

Blake's Halloween. The annual costume contest for all comers. You betta bring it @ Blake's, 10 p.m.

The Mummy: Resurrection Night 2 kicks Saturday into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Heroes Among Us Night 2 includes the Sizzling Startlets and Fever shows. The opening show is followed by the quintessential drag cast working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. 

Halloween Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

Halloween GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Xion Halloween Afterhours at Jungle. The afterhours you love, the venue you already know. Never stop shaking your ass, this time with spooky beats by DJ Seth Breezy @ Jungle, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Sunday, Oct. 29

ABCD (bottom photo). “A Burlesque Comedy Drag” Show goes down with local queer acts led by comic Ian Aber @ Laughing Skull, 8 p.m.

Sporty Sunday Funday. All the games and matches on the screens and all the guys to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon. This week, it includes the Ruck-A-Buck Wrap Party, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Drag Brunch presents the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday Tea. The weekly tradition of dudes, DJs and drinks continues @ Ten. Low-Tea vocal tracks, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. High Tea today’s hits, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Armorettes: Halloween Show. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens goes in hard @ Burkhart’s, 10:30 p.m.
