Atlanta’s LGBTQ New Year’s Eve parties are a festival of choices built into a big gay weekend again this year, but don’t wait to celebrate. Events start Friday to ensure you a very happy new queer, indeed.
Friday, Dec. 29
DILF Party (top photo). Joe Whitaker throws one last blast for 2017 with his trusty crowd @ Heretic, 10 p.m.
Sweet Baby Cheeses. The comedy showcase and grilled cheese party you didn’t know you need but so do, hosted by local gay comic Ian Aber @ Relapse Theatre, 8 p.m.
Santaland Diaries: Closing Weekend. Gay gadabout Topher Payne takes over the role of Cratchet, the snarky gay department store elf in Santa’s Village @ Horizon Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 31.
Hotlanta Squares Whoville Holiday Hoopla. Join Atlanta’s LGBTQ square dance crew for a hoedown @ City of Light, 7 p.m.
TGIF Cocktail Time: Sangria! makes Atlanta's gay sports bar even more fun @ Woofs, 8 p.m.
Queer Bait. Hang with the cool kids in East Atlanta @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.
DJ Tracy Levine gets the weekend going @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.
Fresh Face Friday puts the newest drag glamazons on display. Then get your singles ready for premiere queens in Femme Fatale @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.
Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.
Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.
