“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 3 finalist Alexis Mateo hit Atlanta with a signature “BAM!” on Friday. The effervescent drag star stole the show at the weekly gay Got Leche? Latin night at Club Rush.
As Mateo (top photo) entered the stage, a sea of phone cameras went aloft, and as the queen herself would say, the jig was up. The crowd went wild for two Mateo numbers among a host of other performers during a night in gay Atlanta that Mateo has been wanting for a long time.
“Atlanta girls have been like a school to me,” Mateo told Project Q in an interview before the show. “They know drag, and that’s what I love the most. This weekend I’m bringing you all Alexis Mateo – fun, energetic, friendly and with a smile on my face that says ‘Thank You’ for allowing me to be part of the Atlanta stage!”
She delivered on that promise and then some, mingling with the crowd and posing for endless photos with fans who waited their turn.
