When back-to-school fever begins to hit, that means one thing in gay Atlanta: It's time to stuff backpacks full of school supplies and celebrate with Backpack in the Park.
The 11th rendition of the summer cocktail party from For the Kid unfolded on Sunday at Cator Woolford Gardens. The gay-run event, with plenty of LGBT support and patrons, included a brunch buffet, live entertainment and a raffle. Attendees included Cathy Woolard (top photo), the gay former Atlanta City Council president who is running for mayor.
Backpacks and donations collected at the event are dished out to organizations that help kids in need.
