You’d think with bankruptcy and the demise of the U.S. auto industry that General Motors might be appreciative of the gays. I mean, we rebuild and transform neighborhoods all the time—watch HGTV much?—and could probably help the faltering auto industry.

But when it comes to GM’s sexy new Camaro, the auto giant’s sexy comes without the gay. The company has been feverishly working this week to scrub the Internet of a viral video featuring two hunks in yellow briefs washing a silver Camaro. Photos still exist—hence our Morning Fix item today—but the video is nowhere to be found. GM seems a little nervous that the gays might spoil the coming out of their Camaro.

The video was produced to promote “Gay Days at the Movies,” a GM-coordinated event in Los Angeles last month to plug the new “Transformers” movie. Fashion stylist Marcellas Reynolds created the Camaro briefs that the muscle boys wear while scrubbing down the car.

It’s a little insulting that GM made a point to say “this was not the way we wanted to represent” the Camaro brand yet they produced the video. Uh, sure. I bet we won’t see commercials with scantily-clad women around the car, then?

For an auto company struggling to survive, you’d think making the Camaro appeal to the BMW-loving gays made sense. Thankfully, we have the photos to ogle while we contemplate how much GM sucks.
