The best queer things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Gear up. The busiest weekend of holiday parties in the LGBT-ATL starts now. Scan through the Queer Agenda calendar of LGBTQ events before you don your gay apparel and make the season bright.

Friday, Dec. 14

Rainbow Pub Crawl. An ugly sweater contest and a bevy of bars make this LGBTQ toy drive and bar hop a must. MSR, Publico, Ten, Ri Ra, G’s and Midtown Moon are just some of the stops. The fun starts @ My Sister’s Room, 8 p.m. It goes a little something like this.

RuPaul’s All Stars 4 Premiere. Watch on the big screen with other fans of the show @ Plaza Theatre, 8 p.m.

Ethel Merman Disco Christmas Spectacular. With a title like that, what could possibly go wrong? There’s no business like show business @ Out Front Theatre, 8 p.m. Runs through Dec. 22.

The Favourite. Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz burn up the silver screen in this lesbian-lady-love, period-fab, sure-bet Oscar contender @ metro Atlanta theaters.

Libby Whittemore. The locally legendary cabaret singer performs her annual “Ho Ho Home for the Holidays along with the hilarious “Connie Sue Day Christmas” @ Actor’s Express, 7:30 p.m. Runs through Dec. 23.

Ian Aber. Q columnist and hilarious local queer comedian Ian Aber headlines a whole lineup of comics @ WonderComedy, 9 p.m.

Winter Motherland Drag Show. Taylor Alxndr, JayBella Banks, Micky Bee, Ella-Saurus-Rex perform with DJ Jsport on the decks @ Mother, 9 p.m.

Mary XXX-Mess with Dirty St. Nick. Party with the East Atlanta cool kids @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Fetish & Feral. Two great tastes that taste great together. Booze, beats and boys in this double-feature with DJ Bio Zounds for Fetish @ Heretic, 10 p.m. then of course DJ Ed Wood goes on and on for Feral @ Xion, 3 a.m.

DJ Tracy Levine kicks the weekend into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

QueerGirl Holiday Party. Join this social group for a seasonal party featuring DJs Skyler Madison and Kelly Romo @ The Music Room, 10 p.m.

Celestial Friday with Celeste Holmes puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars. Don’t forget Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Fresh Fish Friday & Moonlight Cabaret. Early drag to wrap your week, 8 p.m. and drag eleganza fabulosity with Shavonna B. Brooks and Raquel Lord to kick off the weekend, 11 p.m. There's also a movie on the patio bar @ Midtown Moon, 7 p.m.

Drrty Divas. Hit them up for boys, booze, beats and Atlanta's hottest queens hosted by Destiny Brooks @ Ten, 10 p.m

Ladies Night. Get your LGBTQ weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

 

Saturday, Dec. 15

Heretic 27th Anniversary (middle photo). DJ Joe Gauthreaux spins the man-on-man dance party that just keeps going, and going, and going… @ Heretic, 10 p.m. Read our preview in this issue of Q magazine.

Charis Holiday Party. The stalwart lesbian-feminist bookstore hosts a sale with treats @ Charis Books & More, all day.

Flannel Friday. All the games and matchups on the screens, and all the sporty gays to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of the party as the sun drops @ Mary’s, 2:30 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly scheduled shenanigans, 9 p.m.

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girlsentertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

Merry & Bright. The LGBTQ orchestra Atlanta Freedom Bands performs its holiday concert @ Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, 8 p.m.

Ringing in Twenty Bi-teen. The social network Bi+ Georgia gets a launch with Atlanta Pride Committee as backers @ Georgia Beer Garden, 8p.m.

Fantasy Girls. The queens you love doing what you love cabaret style @ Ten, 9 p.m. It's Phoenix's birthday show to boot.

Jingle & Mingle. Blue Diamond Entertainment for “grown women 25+ in the life” hosts a holiday affair and toy drive @ Urban Foodie Feed Store, 10 p.m.

Nutcracker Ball with Daniel Weaver and Aaron Fries kicks Saturday into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Holiday Soiree. The Bellissima party crew brings DJ Amy Alexander for another of their swanky lesbian parties @ Nowak’s, 10 p.m.

Pop! Popup drag and Popup men werqs Saturday night into a frenzy @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

After Hours. Soulful house music by resident DJs presented by Culmination Productions keeps you partying as late as you want @ Tokyo Valentino, 2 a.m.

Xion Afterhours. Rodolfo Bravat moves you ‘til sunrise @ BJ Roosters, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Sunday, Dec. 16

Snow Ball. You’re already all dressed up for the holidays. Hit multiple celebrations, including this sixth annual, must-attend winter wonderland @ Ten, 7 p.m.

Gospel Brunch. Singing queens while you eat from a smorgasbord of serving stations @ Midtown Moon, 11 a.m.

NFL Sunday Funday. All the football games and other competitions on the screens, plus all the guys to watch them with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Drag Brunch with the Sisters of Sequins @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. 

Christmas Heifer Review. Ruby Redd and the queens perform while you eat brunch @ Cowtippers, 1 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Madams, Marys & Mimosas serves drag, brunch and drink specials @ Ten Atlanta, 1 p.m. Sit. Stay. The Sunday Funday weekly tradition of outdoor dudes, DJs and drinks, 4 p.m.

Sunday Sabbath. Celeste Holmes stages the queens for your weekend wrap party @ Midtown Tavern, 6 p.m.

ABCD. A Burlesque Comedy Drag Show combines all these queer things into one show @ Laughing Skull, 8 p.m.

Armorettes: Trailer Park Christmas. The camp drag crazies with the hearts of gold against AIDS are in their 40th year of weekly shows @ Midtown Moon, 8 p.m.

Queer AF. Drew Friday and Candida Valentina host this raucous drag and variety show @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m.

After Hours. Urban Hip Hop all night by resident DJs, plus 15 dancers and three levels to party presented by Culmination Productions keeps you partying as late as you want @ Tokyo Valentino, 11 p.m.
