The best gay things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Weekly wonders, annual anniversaries, monthly mandatories, and one-night-onlys. Gather ‘round, children, for this weekend’s LGBT Atlanta events topping the Gay Agenda calendar.

Friday, Aug. 25

The Other Show (top photo). Come to the unique weekly drag cabaret with an eclectic cast and special guests that always pack a surprise @ Jungle, 9 p.m.

AGLCC Fourth Friday. Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly networking happy hour @ Einstein’s, 5:30 p.m.

Peter Aman Meet & Greet. Say hello to this candidate for Atlanta Mayor during his LGBT meetup @ 10th & Piedmont,7 p.m.

Cabaret Closing Weekend. The Kander and Ebb classic hits the Kit Kat Club with Brian Clowdus as Emcee @ Serenbe Playhouse, 8 p.m. 

Boys Room. Hang with the cool kids in East Atlanta @ Mary’s, 9 p.m.

Mega Dance with DJ Mr. Richard gets the weekend going @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Deep South. DJ Vicki Powell brings La Fraicheur all the way from Berlin to bring down the house at her latest alterna-queer throwdown @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Fresh Face Friday puts the newest drag glamazons on display. Then get your singles ready for premiere queens in Femme Fatale @ Burkhart’s, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Glitz & Glam Dinner Theater. Charlie Brown, the undisputed Bitch of the South and her gurlz entertain with dinner and a show amid the fancy theater experience of Atlanta’s premiere drag restaurant and bar. Make Reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m.

Celestial Friday. Celeste Holmes hosts the show “where the stars come out” and puts the grrls on display for your entertainment and your dollars, plus Second Level beats upstairs @ Blake’s, 11 p.m.

Ladies Lounge. Get your lesbian weekend started with a DJ-driven dance party, live performances and scores of women in the new Midtown home of Atlanta lesbian nightlife @ My Sister’s Room, 9 p.m. 

 

Saturday, Aug. 26

Bearracuda (middle photo). The Singlets & Jocks theme this time invites you to wear your least to get the most out of the party @ Heretic, 10 p.m.

Drag Queen Story Time. Brent Star reads kids books to kids for the entertainment of everyone @ Posman Books, 1 p.m.

Respect The Brunch. Gays hover between breakfast and lunch for midday grub to benefit Voices of Note @ Zocalo, 12 noon – 3 p.m.

#Daydrunk. Drink specials put you to bed early or make you the life of tonight’s party @ Mary’s, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. Do it, and you may not remember what you did during the regularly scheduled shenanigans, 10 p.m.

Guys & Dolls charity show hosted by Berlinda Wall features several rarely-seen queens to benefit Joining Hearts @ Jungle, 6 p.m.

Atlanta United vs. Philly Union. The For All Stripes gay fan group watches the local pro soccer match together @ Hudson FC International Sports Pub, 6 p.m.

Dance Party. It’s always a party on Saturdays @ Jungle, 10:30 p.m. Get there early for Fantasy Girls, 9 p.m.

Sister Twister with Panther LL and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence welcomes your jocks and underwear, and DJ Moose plays 80s-00s hits to kick Saturday into high gear @ Atlanta Eagle, 10 p.m.

Sizzling Startlets and Fever. The opening show is followed by the quintessential drag cast working for your dollars @ Burkhart's, 9:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. 

Glitz & Glam with Charlie Brown. The self-titled Bitch of the South and her girls entertain with dinner and a show in the theater experience of Atlanta’s drag restaurant and bar. Make reservations @ Lips Atlanta, 6 p.m., 9 p.m. and the Taboo Show at 11:30 p.m. 

GlitterBomb werqs Saturday night with a drag show hosted by Edie Cheezburger, a cast of premiere queens and special guests @ Blake’s, 10 p.m.

Afterhours really gets cranking when the party moves to Cheshire Bridge Road with DJs Cosmo and Tracy Levine @ Tokyo Valentino, 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

 

Sunday, Aug. 27

SSL Kickoff Beer Bust (bottom photo). Before they can even catch their breath from Atlanta’s gay spring-summer softball league, Southern Softpaw League pours bottomless brews for fall @ Cockpit, 4 p.m.

Sporty Sunday Funday. All the games and matches on the screens and all the guys to watch it with @ Woofs, 12 noon.

Drag Brunch brings the Sisters of Sequins with Bubba D. Licious at the wheel while you eat @ Lips, 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Or sleep in and do Dinner with the Divas, 6:30 p.m.

Midtown Rouge. First it’s High Energy and DJ Bill Berdeaux, 1 p.m., then the legendary Sunday drag show kicks off with an all-star cast including Raquell Lorde @ Blake's, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday Tea: Atlantis. The weekly tradition of dudes, DJs and drinks continues @ Ten. Low-Tea vocal tracks, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. High Tea today’s hits, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Armorettes. Atlanta’s camp drag crazies against HIV do their weekly good in the gayborhood @ Burkhart’s, 7:30 p.m.

Tossed Salad. The magic and madness masterminded by Brigitte Bidet and her left-of-center queens goes in hard @ Burkhart’s, 10:30 p.m.
