Woofs – the place where sports and LGBT fans collide for cocktails – celebrated its 15th anniversary on Wednesday with an invitation-only party that was standing room only.
The sports bar found its home in a 1,900-square-foot space in a retail center at the intersection of Lindbergh Drive and Piedmont Road in 2002. Then owners Gary Sisney, Bill Hamilton and Gregory Hughes wanted to create a low-key atmosphere for LGBT sports fans to enjoy their favorite games with friends.
On Wednesday, Hughes (top photo center) – now the sole owner of Woofs – was on hand, along with Sisney and Hamilton to thank supporters and longtime customers.
Yelp named Woofs one of the best gay bars in America earlier this year.
